On the theft of about 6.3 billion dollars in roughly twenty minutes on 29 October, Binance says it suspended withdrawals, froze about 3 billion dollars with partners and reserved more than 6.34 billion to cover losses. As of 1 November the exchange said there was no evidence that wallet private keys had leaked and promised a technical post-mortem. TRM Labs attributes the theft with high confidence to North Korea's TraderTraitor, while Binance itself has not publicly confirmed the attribution.
