In the early hours of 30 October a fire at Rheinmetall's construction site in Calden, Hesse, next to Kassel Airport, destroyed three construction vehicles. Police suspect arson and are examining a possible political motive; no suspects or claims of responsibility have been reported. The site is to host a logistics centre and a development and test facility for unmanned systems worth more than EUR 260 million, due to operate by the end of 2027, and the incident is being reported alongside September's explosive devices thrown at a site next to Helsing's Munich headquarters and July's fire at WB Group's drone factory in Poland.
