The Federal Communications Commission voted 3–0 on 29 October to adopt a Report and Order (FCC 26-72) opening about 50 MHz of 800 MHz cellular spectrum to drone command-and-control links, ending an airborne-use prohibition dating from 1991. Its 19 November meeting will take up 450 MHz drone data links, ground radar for drone detection at 24.45–24.65 GHz and LEO satellite terminals on vehicles and drones. Commercial beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations still depend on the FAA's Part 108 rule, due by 7 December.
